Website Creation Timeline: Real Deadlines in 2026
Timeframes by project type, what actually delays delivery, and the checklist to meet your deadline from the client side.
Two timelines everyone confuses
The first is how long a developer spends coding your website. The second is the time between your first call and going live. The gap can range from a few days to several months, and it doesn't depend on the agency. It depends on you.
A five-page website can be coded in three days. But it's rarely delivered in less than four weeks, because those four weeks are spent gathering content, validating mockups, reviewing feedback, obtaining hosting access, and waiting for the business owner to find fifteen minutes between jobs. The real timeline is calendar time, not stopwatch time.
Timeframes by project type
A one-page website (single page, contact form, concise presentation) delivers in 7 to 10 calendar days if content and logo are ready from the start. No intermediate mockup, no validation phase: you provide the brief, we code, we adjust on review, it's live. Add two weeks if you need to write content first or choose between design directions.
A 5-7 page showcase website (home, services, about, portfolio, contact, legal) takes 3 to 5 weeks. One week for mockup and design validation, two weeks for development and integration, one week for feedback rounds and launch. This assumes you validate within 48 hours at each stage and provide content promptly. If you take a week to review, the timeline extends a week.
A website with custom tool (online quote calculator, client portal, booking management, product configurator) requires 8 to 16 weeks, depending on business logic complexity. Four weeks of design and mockup, six to ten weeks of development and testing, two weeks of acceptance and corrections. At this stage, we usually break the project into milestones: a limited first version launched quickly, then enhancements delivered in waves.
What actually delays a project
Content that doesn't arrive. This causes 90% of delays measured on projects delivered in 2025 and 2026. We build the mockup, the client validates the structure, and three weeks later the "services" page paragraphs still haven't been written. The site sits waiting, the agency follows up, the client promises next week. A month passes.
Validations that drag. You receive a mockup on Monday, look at it Friday, respond the following Tuesday because you had to show the accountant and the manager's wife. Ten days elapsed, nothing decided yet. Multiply by three validation phases, and you've added a month to the schedule without a single line of code changing.
Scope changes mid-project. "Actually, we'd like to add a page for each product range." "We want an integrated booking system, like the competitor's site." "The logo changed." Each modification is legitimate, but each pushes back the launch. If scope doubles, timeline doubles.
The checklist to meet your deadline
If you want your website live on the announced date, here's what to do before signing the quote:
- Gather all content now. Not an outline, not a topic list: written, reviewed, internally validated paragraphs. If you don't have time, budget it and schedule it. A copywriter takes two weeks, a business owner writing between appointments takes two months.
- Designate a single point of contact. One person validates mockups, one gives feedback, one says "good to go." If every stakeholder sends their correction list separately, the agency spends time arbitrating instead of delivering.
- Block validation slots in your calendar. Three one-hour meetings, spaced two weeks apart. The agency delivers, you validate within 48 hours, they correct, you validate again.
- Don't change your mind mid-project. You validated the mockup? Major design changes are closed. Want to add a feature? We schedule it for version 2, three weeks after launch. Everything essential must be in the specifications from the start.
When not to rush
If you don't have content yet, you're hesitating between three agencies, or the launch isn't planned for six months, it's too early to order a website. Better to spend three weeks writing complete specifications and comparing quotes on identical scope than to sign an urgent, under-defined project that will derail.
Similarly, if you're waiting for a grant, funding, or strategic decision that could change everything, don't start development. Unfinished sites because budget was cut mid-project cost twice: once for the agency that worked for nothing, once for the client who must redo everything elsewhere.
Our posted timelines
The Autonomous Pack (5-7 page showcase site, delivered turnkey, you manage afterwards) delivers in 4 weeks if content is provided at D+3 and validations held under 48 hours. That's €1,190 paid once, launch included, domain name and hosting offered the first year.
The Serenity Formula (same site, but we continue managing everything after launch) follows the same development timeline: 4 weeks. The difference is we stay in the loop for updates, corrections, content additions, and technical maintenance. That's €149 per month, creation included, ownership at the 12th payment or earlier if you pay in full.
The Launch Pack (site + custom tool, complex business configuration) requires 8 to 12 weeks depending on functional scope. Brief and mockup take three weeks, development five to seven, acceptance and adjustments two. This pack starts at 3 490€ all-inclusive.
What to remember
- Calendar time is always longer than pure development time, because it includes validations, feedback rounds, and client-side waiting periods.
- A standard showcase website delivers in 3 to 5 weeks if content is ready and validations are fast. A site with custom tool requires 8 to 16 weeks.
- 90% of delays come from content that doesn't arrive, validations that drag, or scope changes mid-project.
- You control the timeline as much as the agency: prepare content before signing, designate a single contact, and block validation slots in your calendar.
